     Welcome to Texas GTAmerica!
GTA Stock Car Road racing is among the fastest growing classes in road racing.   GTA originated in Northern California as a club racing experiment, and has quickly become known as a fast, very affordable and safe way to go racing.   GTA started as a West Coast regional series, sanctioned by N.A.S.A. (National Auto Sport Association).  It has grown to have groups running in the Northwest, Mid-West, Northeast, Southeast and in the Southwest running under either S.C.C.A. or N.A.S.A sanction.  The Southwest(Texas GTA) region runs under N.A.S.A. and S.C.C.A. sanctioning.
GTA Stock Cars offer an affordable option for racers.  The cars utilize NASCAR/Late Model Perimeter Style tube chassis, fully adjustable suspension and have off the shelf replacement parts with numerous suppliers.  The cars also offer extensive driver safety and protection.  Engines are  the ASA spec LS-1,  Upgraded LS-1, Traditional GTA and "open" engine with all cars being limited to 500 flywheel horse power.  Texas GTA also recognizes the 604 crate engine and the ZZ4 Fast Burn with HO cam.  For 2008, these two crate engines would be "open" engines in the other GTA regions.  Engines typically go 3-4+ seasons between rebuilds and can be replaced for under $6000.  The minimum weight for the base configuration GTA car is 2780 lbs.   Tires are asphalt circle track tires from either Hoosier or Good Year ranging in price from $130-$150 each.  Turn key cars start at $20,000.  There is a lot of "bang for the buck" .  You have safety, speed, V-8 sound and power, and fun for less than a nationally competitive Spec Miata.  Although competition drives the series, additional emphasis is placed on safety, camaraderie, well-defined specifications and rules, fairness, and promoting a good name for the series sponsors, associates and most of all, the race fans.

Not sure GTA is for you......?  GTA "test drives" will be available at NASA Texas races in 2008 so you can get hooked!
